This statement applies to content published on the nwch.co.uk domain. This website is run by the North West College of Homeopathy. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, and we are committed to making it accessible in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
How accessible this website is
We have worked to make the site as accessible as we are able. The main accessibility features include:
- Plain text content that can be resized using the browser’s zoom controls without loss of information or functionality.
- Descriptive alternative text on images so that screen readers can convey what is shown.
- A hierarchical heading structure that allows keyboard and screen reader users to navigate within each page.
- Sufficient colour contrast between body text and background.
- Functionality that is operable through a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
- Links written with descriptive text rather than generic phrases such as “click here”.
Known accessibility issues
We know that parts of this website are not fully accessible. We are working to improve the following:
- The slideshow on the homepage rotates automatically. Users can scroll past it but cannot currently pause it from the page itself. We are reviewing the slideshow software to address this.
- Some embedded video content, for example on the Testimonials page, is hosted on third-party platforms. The availability of captions on those platforms is dependent on the provider. Where we add new video, we use providers that support captions and we enable them by default.
- Some legacy PDF documents may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We will replace these with accessible alternatives when they are next updated.
- A small number of older images may carry generic or short alt text. We are reviewing and improving these on a rolling basis.
