Not only did we have our students in for their monthly immersion into Homeopathy, but we also had an Open day to welcome prospective students, 2 sessions with practitioners as part of our program of Professional Development and an Annual General Meeting attended by everyone in College and our Board of Directors.
Why an Annual General Meeting?
We are the only Homeopathic College in the UK to be managed as a Social Enterprise – and this makes us Resilient, Sustainable and Community focused.
The current framework of the college was set up 18 years ago by a group of lecturers and students who wanted to ensure continuity in Homeopathic Education in the North West. It is not profit focused – we run the college with sound financial management, but any profit is reinvested for the benefit of the whole college with the aim of sustaining the vitality of Homeopathy in the region.
All members of the Board are Homeopaths who volunteer their time to ensure the College is managed within the Ethos of a Social Enterprise but is also able to adapt, grow and fulfil its key purpose of providing an excellent standard of Homeopathic education, recognised and accredited by the national bodies relevant to our profession. A most excellent group of strong dedicated women who make chairing meetings an enjoyable challenge.
If the North West College of Homeopathy was one of my patients, I would declare it in rude health, a hive of teaching and learning, a generous and wise entity that thrives in clinical excellence and academic achievement. Bigger than its parts, it is building a true community from sound foundations and with a heart of gold.
We are focused on in person teaching – there is no better feeling than attending the monthly weekend. The quality of interaction and the amount of sharing is amazing.
We have over 20 teachers all generous in the sharing of their knowledge and experience, and we welcome former graduates to the team when they are ready. Visiting lecturers love our vibrant college – this year we welcomed John Morgan, Geoff Johnson, Jo Ketteman and Lyssa Clayton.
We offer true personal support to students with a dedicated pastoral role (the wonderful Rosie Kelbrick) and year tutors who are dedicated to their students’ welfare. Andrene, our Lead Director knows all the students, and contact is maintained in between college week-end when and as needed.
We embed our teaching in the community by providing affordable and easy to access ‘Intro days’ to Homeopathy every year – 4 so far this year, we have run 7 sessions for local practitioners to date this year and delivered 51 Continuous Professional Development certificates.
Our students leave college with a degree level qualification and a Licentiate to practice Homeopathy knowing that they are part of a community that will continue to support them in their practice. They are all shareholders of the college and will be its future.
We love what we do and are proud to be a College of the HEART – Homeopathy is a Gift !
