Creative teaching
Practical and theoretical teaching is creatively delivered by our experienced lecturers on a continual assessment basis (no exams).
"I enjoy how varied we are, and the freedom we get to be our own kind of homoeopath."
(Year Two Student)
Our core teaching staff members are among the most experienced lecturers teaching at homoeopathic colleges.
Many of the tutors and supervisors are past graduates of the college who really understand the student experience.
We also enable students to learn in a number of different ways including:
- Lectures
- Workshops and small group work
- Practical training: pairs, threes and group discussion
- Live cases
- Video cases
- Tutorials
The academic work that students are required to complete is designed to be stimulating, imaginative and challenging. There are no exams at the end of each year - instead, students receive regular and extensive feedback on their work on our continual assessment programme.
This involves collation of a portfolio which comprises:
Essays and short assignments
7 a year in years one and two, 4 a year in years three and four.
Clinic reports
Students begin to learn the necessary practical skills by observing an experienced homoeopath at work at the start of year two. A report is provided after each session of observation and progress reports are prepared at regular intervals until the end of the course.
Own case reports
During years three and four students take responsibility for treating ten patients of their own, working one-to-one with a supervisor. Detailed bi-annual reports are provided by supervisors to assist progress.
Direct supervision
This involves taking a consultation with a supervisor present. Students are required to undertake at least one session of direct supervision during the later stages of the course.
