Research and provings

In the last few years the North West College of Homœopathy has developed a research portfolio of its own. Research at our college focuses mainly on conducting experiments called Provings. We understand that research in the field of homoeopathy is a dynamic area where individuals can contribute in their own unique way.

So far three scientific provings have been carried out on the remedies Tungsten, Thiosinamine and Selenite using methods adhering to clear, nationally and internationally accepted guidelines. We also recognise that each proving has its own logic and therefore encourage a flexible approach to their conduct and presentation. Each new generation of students has the chance to contribute in their own way. We strongly encourage students to take part in provings in whatever role they are most comfortable - prover, supervisor, co-ordinator (the last two roles are usually only suitable for more advanced and/or postgraduate students).

Students feel they have benefited enormously from the opportunity to participate in these experiments and research is an area to which the college feels very committed. We have a permanent Research Co-ordinator who overlooks the provings as part of his work. In the long term the college aims to make a substantial contribution to the field of homeopathic research nationwide. Our goal is to develop a method of best practice concerning provings and to develop a viable model that other colleges, professionals and students can follow.
